Classic Western Burger
- Ten slices of thick-cut bacon (about 3/4 lb. total)
- Two large eggs
- ⅔ cup milk
- One onion (about eight oz.), peeled and minced
- Two teaspoons of minced garlic
- 1 1/4 teaspoons salt
- About 1/2 teaspoon of pepper
- 3 pounds ground lean beef
- 1 cup soft bread crumbs
- Ten slices of red onion
- Ten slices of extra-sharp white or yellow cheddar cheese
- Ten hamburger buns
Take a round, 10 to a 12-inch frying pan on medium heat or high heat. Take this time to cook the bacon and make sure that it’s brown and crispy on both ends. Make sure you cook it properly but no more than 8 to 10 minutes.
You can use tongs to drain the fat and then place the bacon on paper towels to soak up the remaining fat. When you feel like it’s cooled down, you can break the slices in two.
Simultaneously, take a large bowl to beat eggs, milk, onion, garlic, 1 1/4 teaspoons salt, and 1/2 teaspoon pepper to blend. Once that is done, you can slowly add some beef and bread crumbs and watch as you mix it gently.
You can form the entire mixture into at least ten equal patties and make sure that they are at least 5 inches wide so that they can fit your girdle.
Take the onions and slice them thinly. Once you do that, brush them with the bacon fat remaining in the pan.
We recommend you grill these types of burgers. Put the patties on the grill and the onion slice and grill them. You can use an electric grill, a gas grill, or a grill that you temper using coals. It would be best to let the patties be for some time before turning them over.
If you want to ensure these patties get the best grill on them and are properly cooked, you will have to insert a thermometer into them and see what it reads.
Once you feel your patties are close to being cooked, you can put a slice of cheese on them and let the heat cook it. Use this time to take the bun halves and place them on the grill to toast for two minutes.
Afterward, you can set the buns on a platter or a plate and transfer the patty to the bottom of the bun. Then start assembling, making sure that each bun has a grilled onion slice, two pieces of bacon, and some coleslaw that you can make in any way you prefer. Add salt and pepper to taste before carefully covering the buns.

Beer-Battered Onion Rings
- Two large onions, sliced into thick rings about 0.5 inches and separated
- 5 cup all-purpose flour
- 5 tablespoons cornstarch
- 5 cup rice flour
- Two teaspoons of garlic powder
- One teaspoon of smoked paprika
- One teaspoon salt
- 33 cups of beer of your choice
- Three ice cubes
- Vegetable oil
- Use a thermometer and heat the oil up to 350˚F.
- Slice an onion into rings. Then toss the rings into a bowl and add 1/2 cup of all-purpose flour until all of the onion rings are evenly coated in the all-purpose flour. Once you do that, set it aside.
- Take the remaining all-purpose flour and add the rice flour, paprika, cornstarch, garlic powder, and salt. Whisk all of these ingredients all together.
- Add the beer with the ice to it until the mixture is smooth.
- Once the mixture is ready, you can carefully cover the mixture in the onion rings until the coating is complete and you feel satisfied.
- Remove the onion rings from the batter til’ you can shake off all the excess.
- Then, carefully place the coated rings in eh oil and fry them till they turn crispy. Ensure that you let the onions fry for at least 3 to 4 minutes. Once you have done that, you can place the onions on a baking sheet with a cooling rack on top. It would help leave the onion rings on the cooling rack to remain crispy.
- Serve the onion rings with the western burger recipe, and make sure that you have a ranch or ketchup condiment on the side.
